I thought this was pretty neat! I liked the graphic choices a lot, reminded me of like games that were made around when the consoles were straddling 2D and 3D, so you'd have like pretty detailed sprites, smooth gradients, and like texture patterned floors and stuff. I thought the finale worked pretty well too ^^
I found a bug or two, but on small projects that's not a huge deal. Overall I liked it :3
im glad you liked the visuals! i was using this as an opportunity to experiment with stuff and this method of sprite making was one. i was pretty happy with how the style turned out.
i definitely expected there to be some bugs. it was already taking too long so i had to rush towards the end. im glad the finale was okay in spite of this, though. i would typically avoid jumpscares and chases, so thats another thing i was testing out here. i dont really think theyre my style, but im glad i gave it a go! maybe the experience will be useful in future nonetheless.
For what it's worth, I did think the chase was pretty clever. Having to quickly notice a change in a repeating pattern and react to it actually works pretty well, adds like a layer of texture on top of the usual chase experience. Very sharp stuff! ^^
oh that's interesting. i guess that's what i intended(?) but to be honest i hadn't really thought about it much. thanks for the input! ill keep that one in mind.
